DevOps: Responsibilities in a Cloud

DevOps is about streamlining development so user requirements can quickly make it into application production, while the cloud offers automated provisioning and scaling to accommodate application changes.

Depending on the type of cloud services the scope of responsibilities is distributed between Service Provider’s Devops and Customer’s DevOps teams.

So in Private cloud customer’s team is responsible for all components of cloud.

In IaaS they are divided between both provider’s and customers. Customer’s responsibilities are limited to managing Application, Data, Middleware and OS. For virtualization and equipment provider is responsible.

As for PaaS provider takes over OS, and the sphere of responsibilities of a customers is limited to their own applications only.

SaaS: provider is responsible for everything since all the services are provided by the vendor.
